Sue Midwinter
|
The first evidence of Sue's interest in music was not
popular - she was constantly "la-la-ing" to Beethoven symphonies, fine for her but not for those around
her! Her mother regularly pressed her to "perform" at parties which she hated and as a result was almost
put off solo singing for life. However singing in the anonymity of her school choir with an impersonal audience
proved less nerve-racking and she even sang occasional solos. After marriage and three children she joined Abingdon and District Music Society "to keep her sane" and began to sing more solo parts including Kodaly's Missa Brevis with two sustained top Cs. The comment of a young man from the audience afterwards that he had never heard top Cs quite like that before was taken to be a compliment! |

| Her last performance with Opera Exchange was as Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. Sue studies singing with Mary Moore. | |||||
